Why Fast?

Fasting is a way to grow closer to God by giving up certain foods to focus more on Him. It is an act of humility demonstrating your desire to hear God more clearly and deepen your faith.

Setting aside time to pray and read the Bible instead of eating shows God that He’s your priority and that you trust Him to guide your life.

It’s a way to reset, refocus, and make space for God to work in you.

What To Do

  • Commit to fasting for 21 days as we seek to get closer to God and experience His power.
  • Review the fast guide and set aside time each day to read the Bible and pray.
  • Join us each Wednesday morning at 6:00 AM CT on YouTube as we collectively seek the Lord.

DEVOTIONAL READING

Week 1 | Surrender

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 1–2

Surrender is where consecration begins. It is where we stop managing appearances and start offering God the truth of our inner life. Hannah comes before the Lord burdened by longing, misunderstood by others, and weary from waiting. She does not bring a polished prayer; she brings her whole heart.

Hannah’s surrender is not passive. She names her pain, releases her grip on control, and entrusts her deepest desire to God. By the time she leaves the presence of God, her situation has not yet changed...but she has.

This week invites us to open the places we have guarded most carefully. As we begin this fast, we offer God our desires, disappointments, fears, and hopes—not to demand outcomes, but to trust Him with what we cannot carry alone.

Giving It Up for Good Focus:
Release the need to control things you can only entrust to God.

DAILY PRAYER PROMPTS

  • Lord, I come to You as I am. I stop hiding, explaining, or pretending. I open my heart fully to You.

  • God, I bring You my deepest desires and disappointments. I place them in Your hands without demanding an outcome.

  • Father, I release control today. I give You what I’ve been trying to manage on my own.

  • Lord, help me trust You even when I don’t understand what You’re doing. I choose faith over fear.

  • God, thank You for meeting me this week. I receive Your peace and rest in Your care.
