Holiday Clothing Swap FAQ

This FAQ is designed to answer your questions about donations, shopping, tickets, and volunteer opportunities so that everyone can have a smooth, enjoyable experience. 

1. What is the Clothing Swap? 

The Clothing Swap is a community-wide event where members can donate gently used or new clothing and household items in exchange for tickets to shop at our boutique-style swap. This is not charity—it’s community care, sustainability, and fun! 

2. When and Where is the Event? 

  • Date: December 13, 2025

  • Location: Progressive Baptist Church

  • Donation Drop-Offs: Counseling and Justice Center

  • Sundays | 12 PM to 2 PM

  • Wednesdays | 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM

3. How do I sign up? 

We encourage you to register in advance so we can prepare space, tickets, and volunteers. You can sign up to donate or attend the event here.  Paper forms will be in the church office.

4. What can I donate? 

Clothing (all ages): 

  • Women: Tops, sweaters, dresses, pants, skirts, outerwear, shoes, handbags, scarves, jewelry 

  • Men: Shirts, sweaters, pants, suits, jackets, coats, shoes, belts, hats 

  • Children (Girls/Boys): Tops, dresses, pants, coats, boots, school shoes, backpacks, hats/gloves 

  • Winter Priority: Coats, jackets, snow pants, boots, scarves, gloves, hats 

  • Household Goods (optional): Small appliances, cookware, linens, blankets, décor, toys, books 

Not Accepted: 

Damaged or stained clothing, used socks/underwear (unless new), corporate promo items, broken appliances 

5. What should I bring when I donate? 

  • Only clean, gently used, or new items 

  • Consider donating winter items first: coats, snow pants, boots, hats, gloves, scarves 

6. How do the tickets work? 

Each donor will be eligible to receive 10 tickets for their donation. If donors do not want their tickets, they can donate them to the community.

7. Can I volunteer to help out? 

Yes! Volunteers are essential to the success of the event. 

Opportunities include: 

  • Donation intake & quality check 

  • Sorting & merchandising 

  • Ticketing & check-in 

  • Floor support on Swap Day 

  • Seamstress/Repair Booth assistance 

  • Communications & promotion 

  • Post-event setup for Rotating Needs Store

8. What can I expect at the event? 

  • Boutique-style shopping: Clothing is organized by category and size, displayed on racks and tables

  • Story Wall: Share fashion memories or inspirations

  • Repair Booth: Learn basic mending, patches, or minor repairs
